About

Connor MacLeod is a Rhode Island–based professional mariner, charter captain, and entrepreneur with a career rooted in experience, discipline, and a lifelong connection to the ocean. Raised in Portsmouth, Rhode Island, Connor grew up in a close-knit family that emphasized hard work, accountability, and respect—values that have shaped his career both on and off the water. After graduating high school, Connor attended multiple maritime schools, earning advanced licenses and certifications that set him on a fast track within the marine industry. He began his career as a commercial fisherman, working aboard offshore lobster boats and gillnetters, where he developed the resilience and teamwork required in one of the most demanding professions at sea. At just 18 years old, Connor earned his 100-ton Master’s License, allowing him to command a wide range of vessels at a remarkably young age. Over the years, Connor captained rescue and tow boats, small passenger ferries, and the Newport Harbormaster vessel. In 2014, he joined Reinauer Transportation as a Second Mate and PIC Tankerman, further expanding his experience in commercial maritime operations. While working aboard tugboats, Connor launched Tall Tailz Charters in 2018 as a part-time venture driven by his passion for fishing and sharing the ocean with others. In 2024, Connor retired from tugboat work to operate Tall Tailz Charters full time. His charter business has become one of the most recognized in Rhode Island, highlighted by landing the Rhode Island state record tautog in 2021, a record that stood for 70 years. After being briefly surpassed, Tall Tailz reclaimed the state record again on November 9, 2025, cementing Connor’s reputation in the Northeast fishing community.
